ABOUT US
Founded in 2000 by members of the Broken Sound community who wished to provide meaningful High Holiday services, the Hebrew Congregation at Broken Sound proudly celebrates its 25th year—our Silver Anniversary.
As we honor our history and those who built this congregation, we also look ahead with excitement and gratitude for the future.
Pictured are Barton Charlip, our current President now entering his fourth year of leadership, and Sandy Mischel, one of our founding members and President Emeritus.
Board Members: Howard Wild, Alan Brumel, Elliott Rabin, Jeff Kramer, Lori Feldman, Darcy McNally, Gwen Nagorsky, and Ellyn Mantell.
Together, we celebrate 25 years of community, connection, and spiritual growth—and look forward to many more.
Rabbi Ellari Mirabel
Rabbi/Cantor Ellari Mirabel is a deeply spiritual and musical leader who brings heart, voice, and meaning to every service she leads. Originally from West Hartford, Connecticut, she has called South Florida home since 2000, blending her love of music with her passion for Jewish life. A graduate of The Hartt School of Music and ordained as both a Cantor (2012) and Rabbi (2020), Ellari has led High Holy Day services for the Hebrew Congregation at Broken Sound for 17 years.
Her journey began singing in synagogues as a teen, performing on New York stages, and sharing her love of Broadway and Jewish music—a passion she still brings to every gathering. In addition to Broken Sound, she serves senior communities, officiates Shabbat and holiday services, and provides personalized life-cycle ceremonies for families locally and internationally.
Proud of her Sephardic heritage and unique ability to blend traditional and contemporary melodies, Ellari creates meaningful worship experiences that touch the soul. Whether leading prayer, officiating weddings or baby namings, comforting families in hospice, or mentoring students, she brings warmth, wisdom, and joy to all she does.
